Whittier, Alaska, Has 200 Citizens but They All Live in the Same Building

Posted on Oct 18, 2016

Whittier is a town in Alaska with approximately 200 citizens where all people live in one building! The building is named Begich Towers and it served as a barracks for the army, built in the mid-50s. Everything one needs for everyday life is there, but there's also a small hospital, post office, restaurant, bar, and even a police department. Take a tour through this unusual city and find out more about it!

There is one way to and out of the city, through a long tunnel that is so narrow that traffic can't function in both directions at the same time. And it's open only until 10:30 pm.
