Recording a video or shooting photos in North Korea is forbidden for tourists unless they get special permission from the government. Kim Jong-un only allows propaganda photos that show off the good aspects of the state, and the world rarely gets to see the reality of life in North Korea.

If you don't have permission, you risk getting arrested and imprisoned. A man from Germany, Michal Huniewicz, took pictures in secret while traveling through North Korea. When he got back to his country, he shared the pictures online. Take a look.

Huniewicz took a risk because he could have been imprisoned. He had to smuggle the photos out of the country by hiding his camera's memory cards.
