New Zealand's Coastline Gets a Completely New Look after a Massive Earthquake

On November 14th, 2016, New Zeland's South Island was struck by an immensely powerful earthquake. Its magnitude was 7.8, and it lasted for over a minute. The earthquake was named Kaikoura, and it changed the coastline forever. Unfortunately, two people died after the earthquake caused the sea floor to rise to 6.5 feet and to hit the coastline with a massive force. Kaikoura was the among the top 3 largest and strongest earthquakes in 2016.

New Zealand experienced an earthquake like no other on November 14. It caused the seabed to lift. A marine geologist said he has never seen anything like it.
