When you think of it today, holidays seem more like an obligation. Celebrating can be very expensive and time-consuming. But if you look into some of the most terrible holidays from history, all of these complaints will be gone.
The Gadhimai Festival
This extremely terrible festival was held in Nepal until last year. Every five years, there would be an animal slaughter, and a hundred people would prove their faith to the goddess Gadhimai by sacrificing animals. From water buffalos to rats, it's estimated that around 500,000 animals were sacrificed during each festival. Since 2015, the government banned the festival, promising that the next one will be different.
