To win the war, both the Allies and the Axis Powers had to invent cutting edge technology which was way ahead of its time. 1. Antonov A-40: The Flying Tank

A prototype of this tank with wings was made in 1942. This was a Soviet attempt to create a more efficient means of transportation for tanks. The Russians, led by previous successful attempts at dropping tanks from the air directly into a battlefield, wanted to combine a tank with a glider. However, the Antonov A-40 wasn't used due to a lack of a sufficiently powered aircrafts which were required to tow the vehicle.
