The U.S. army's current combat uniform is an OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) called the Scorpion W2, but that's just the newest form, as it has changed a lot of uniforms due to foreign influence and conditions in warfare.

The first inspiration for the American army uniforms came from the British army, which was nicknamed the 'redcoats' in the Revolutionary war for their red tunics and white pants and undercoats, which were colors symbolizing the colors of the British flag - Union Jack.
