You can find inspiration anywhere. Especially in nature. This man took a piece of the trunk and made a unique clock that would cost hundreds of dollars. We are impressed!
1. Find the Right Tree Trunk
The type of wood doesn't matter too much. Oak or Madrone would be perfect for it.
2. Log Cross Section
Cut a log section big enough for the clock and the temperature section (optional). Take it through the planer couple of times, until you get the desired shape and size.
3. Polish the Log Face
Make a smooth top layer for your clock.
4. The Clock Mechanics
Buy the cheapest clock; you'll just use internal hardware.
